CDWR DEMANDS THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF UNLAWFULLY SEIZED PROPERTY AND AN END TO BRUTALITY
The Nigerian Police has continued to violate a court order that nullified the unlawful seizure of protesters’ property. The Magistrate Court, Yaba has ordered the Nigerian Police on May 8, 2026 to release the property. Mrs I.O Alaka, the presiding Magistrate ordered the release of the property despite the crude opposition of the Police.Â
The Police have been approached many times for the release of the property.
The Campaign for Democratic and Workers’ Rights (CDWR) condemns this reckless of violation of court order and the continued seizure and detention of protesters’ property.
We call on thepolice to immediately release the property. We also demand the discontinuation of trial of Comrade Hassan Taiwo Soweto and Dele Frank and dropping of all trumped-charges.  Â
